Synopsis and objective
Cenforce is a branded formulation that contains sildenafil citrate. Sildenafil belongs to a group of medicines called phosphodiesterase type 5 inhibitors and is used to treat erectile dysfunction in adult men by promoting increased blood flow to the penis. It supports the normal response to sexual stimulation but does not itself cause sexual desire.
Sildenafil has also been investigated for other circulatory uses and for some altitude or exercise-related research. Such uses are outside routine licensed outward signs and should only be considered under medical supervision. For information on when to take a dose see the section on How and when to dose. For medicines that may modify sildenafil effects, see Eating with medicines: potential the back and forth of communications in a system describe exchanges between components..
Strengths available
Cenforce tablets are produced in multiple strengths so a prescriber can select a dose that balances effect and tolerability. Common strengths encountered include:
- 100 mg
- 50 mg
- 25 mg
- 120 mg
- 130 mg
- 150 mg
- 200 mg
Your prescriber will advise which strength is appropriate. If you are uncertain about starting strength or adjustmentverification the administration timing with respect to dosing recommendations and consult your healthcare professional.
Timing for dosing
For most men the typical starting dose is 50 mg taken approximately 30 to 60 minutes before anticipated sexual activity. Some people may notice effects sooner, from around 15 to 30 minutes, while others may require a longer lead time.
No more than one dose should be taken in a 24 hour period. Depending on response, age, other medicines and additional effects, the dose may be reduced to 25 mg or increased to 100 mg by the prescriber. Always follow the instructions given by your doctor or pharmacist.
Note that a large, high fat meal can delay absorption and slow onset. If a quicker start is needed, take the tablet on a lighter stomach with water. For immediate guidance refer to Central a general survey of the material and purpose.
Cautions and safety measures notifications of danger
- Allergy: If you have experienced an allergic reaction to sildenafil or any tablet component, do not take this medicine and inform your prescriber.
- Cardiac history: Discuss recent heart attack, unstable angina, stroke or significant arrhythmia with your clinician before using sildenafil because sexual activity increases cardiovascular workload.
- Impaired kidney function or liver function: Significant organ impairment can alter how sildenafil is removed from the body and may require dose adjustment.
- Older adults: Age can increase sensitivity to effects such as dizziness and low blood pressure; dose reduction may be advised.
- Sudden sensory changes: Stop the medicine and seek urgent care if you experience sudden vision loss, sudden hearing loss, or new severe ringing in the ears.
- Driving and machinery: If sildenafil causes dizziness or lightheadedness, avoid driving or operating machines until you know how you respond.
- Intended population: This product is indicated for adult men with erectile dysfunction and is not suitable for women or children.

Who should not take such a thing?
- Anyone using nitrates for chest pain, or recreational nitrite products often called poppers. The combination can cause a dangerous drop in blood pressure and is contraindicated.
- People taking riociguat, as the combination is not recommended.
- Concurrent use with other PDE5 inhibitors is not advised unless under specialist supervision.
- Individuals with a known hypersensitivity to sildenafil or any excipient in the tablet should avoid the medicine.
- Patients for whom sexual activity is judged unsafe due to serious cardiovascular disease should not use sildenafil.
Possible effects to expect
Most undesired consequences are mild to moderate and resolve without treatment. Serious reactions are uncommon but need prompt medical attention.
Commonly reported symptoms include tension headache, facial flushing, nasal congestion, indigestion, nausea, dizziness and loose stools.
Serious but less common events include chest pain, fainting, priapism (an erection lasting more than 4 hours), sudden loss of vision, sudden loss of hearing, and severe allergic reactions such as swelling of the face, lips or throat with breathing difficulty. Seek emergency care if you develop any of these.
If you notice new or unexpected symptoms, contact your pharmacist or prescriber for advice rather than stopping or starting medicines without consultation.
Meal-related drug compatibility issues
- Nitrates and amyl or butyl nitrites: Combining these with sildenafil is strictly contraindicated due to risk of severe hypotension.
- Alpha blockers (for example tamsulosin or doxazosin): Co-administration can increase the chance of symptomatic low blood pressure; careful timing and dose adjustment may be needed.
- Other PDE5 inhibitors such as tadalafil, vardenafil or avanafil: Do not use together.
- Antihypertensive medicines: Blood pressure lowering effects may be additive; monitor for lightheadedness.
- Strong CYP3A4 inhibitors (for example ketoconazole, itraconazole, ritonavir, cobicistat): These can raise sildenafil levels and may require dose reduction or avoidance.
- Grapefruit and grapefruit juice: May increase exposure to sildenafil and is best avoided while taking the medicine.
- Alcoholic beverage product: Excess alcohol can worsen dizziness and lower blood pressure; limit alcohol while using sildenafil.
If you take other prescribed or over the counter medicines, share a complete list with your pharmacist or doctor before starting sildenafil. See also related links Safety safeguards and safety guidelines warning announcements.
If you forget to take your dose
Sildenafil is usually taken as needed rather than on a fixed regimen. If you miss taking a planned dose, do not take an extra dose later to compensate and do not exceed one dose in 24 hours. If you have questions about timing or frequency, consult your prescriber.
Excessive medication dose first aid: essential steps
If you suspect an consuming an overdose, seek urgent medical attention or contact emergency services immediately. Symptoms of consuming an overdose can include severe dizziness, fainting, chest pain, very fast or irregular heartbeat, persistent vomiting, and sudden changes in vision.
Bring the medication package or a list of medicines to the emergency department where staff can identify the active ingredient and provide appropriate care.

- Avanafil (brand: Spedra): May act faster for some users, sometimes within 15 minutes, and generally has a short to moderate duration of effect.
- Vardenafil (brand: Levitra): Onset time and total duration are broadly similar to sildenafil but individual responses vary; high fat meals can delay onset.
- Brand-name sildenafil such as Viagra and a variety of generic products: These contain the same active ingredient; manufacturing quality, packaging and price can differ between suppliers.
Consider how quickly you need the medicine to work, how long you want the effect to last, factors that pose risks in intercommunication, harmful effects and cost when choosing an a second option. Discuss options with your clinician to find the most suitable medicine.

How the law affects buying in Australia
- Scheduling: In Australia sildenafil is classified as Schedule 4, which means it is available only by prescription.
- Obtaining locally: An Australian prescription is required to purchase sildenafil from a pharmacy found in Australia.
- TGA registration: Not all overseas brands are listed by the Therapeutic Goods Administration; products not registered with the TGA may carry unknown quality or safety risks.
- Personal importation scheme: Under the TGA Scheme for Personal Importation you may be able to import a limited supply of prescription medicines for personal use if you have an Australian prescription or written authorisation from an Australian prescriber. Conditions and quantity limits apply.
- Practical notes on importation:
- You will usually need a valid prescription or written authority from an Australian-registered prescriber to import prescription medicines.
- Imports must be for personal use or for an immediate family member and must not be intended for resale.
- Border or customs authorities may detain or seize shipments that do not meet requirements or that appear excessive.
- Online purchasing risks: Buying from unverified internet sellers increases the risk of counterfeit, substandard or contaminated products. Where possible, choose reputable pharmacies, verify TGA listings, and obtain a prescription from an Australian prescriber. For practical guidance on buying safely online, speak with your pharmacist or a healthcare professional.
